The production of wine from white strawberry grapes is allowed only for family use and in small quantities. It cannot have the denomination of wine but only of drink. The import of this vine began to be imported from North America, to replace the European species that at that time were going through a difficult period due to the many phylloxera epidemics. The North American grapes, on the other hand, did not suffer under the attack of the butterfly larvae and this is due to the so-called "method of rootstocks" which cause the butterflies to cause damage exclusively to the root of the plant. The production of wine is not allowed for a decree that was introduced in Europe at the beginning of the twentieth century, which was aimed at protecting the grape species of the continent.
